Not yet reviewed; 2010 vintage rated 91 points by Wine Spectator: "This offers a lovely creamy feel, as enticing Cavaillon melon, pear and fig flavors are offset by hints of tangerine and bitter almond on the richly layered finish. Drink now through 2013. 50 cases imported."

88-91 points Rhone Report: "A promising barrel sample that has loads of southern Rhône flair, the 2011 Domaine Amido Lirac (60% Mourvedre, 20% Carignan, 15% Syrah, and 5% Grenache) has loads of spice-laced blackberry, garrigue, leather, and hints of crushed flowers emerging from the glass. This is followed by a beautifully put together red that is balanced, has good acidity, and plenty of ripe tannin framing the finish. Given the balance and quality of fruit, this possibly outstanding 2011 should be approachable on release, yet drink well for 3-5 years. (Sep 2012)"

92 points Rhone Report: "[$16 list] Made from a blend of 85% Grenache and 15% Syrah, from 80+ year vines, that is aged for 6 months in concrete tank, the 2011 Michel Gassier Cercius is a lush, decadent offering that delivers loads of black raspberry and blackberry styled fruit that is intermixed with notions of licorice, rolled stone, roasted garrigue, and hints of leather on the nose. Layered, fresh, and beautifully textured, with a full-bodied, rich feel in the mouth that never seems heavy, this absolutely knockout Côtes du Rhône is a candidate for a multi-case purchase, and will deliver the goods for 4-6 years. Do not let the price tag fool you, this is a gorgeous wine that will stand up to any number of more prestigious and expensive bottlings. (Sep 2012)"
Producer notes: "Cercius is a profound ruby color. The nose is intense and complex, with aromas of dark berries, licorice, and garrigue herbs. Opulent and velvety, without being heavy, this wine's fruity finish has an aerial expression of ripe tannins. Pairs well with various meats and cheeses including wine-braised beef, raviolis with cepe mushrooms, roasted duck, veal chops with radicchio, white beans, grilled leg of lamb with thyme and allspice, brie, and for the more adventurous, epoisses, livarot, maroilles, or munster. Alcohol 14.5%."

92 points Rhone Report: "A blend of equal parts Grenache Blanc, Clairette, Roussanne, and Bourboulenc that is aged half in barrel (some new), and half in tank, the 2011 Clos Saint Jean Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc sports a classic profile of white peaches, licorice, toasted spice, and hints of flowers. Medium to full-bodied, voluptuous, and yet silky and polished in the mouth, this is a soft, supple white will drink beautifully for 3-4 years, possibly longer. (Sep 2012)"

Importer notes: "90% Syrah, 10% Grenache. Age of vines: Syrah - 30 years; Grenache - 60 years. Aged in tank; bottled unfiltered. Tasting Notes: Violet in color. The Syrah offers a lot of aromas on the nose including black fruit. The mouth is prevalent with spices of licorice and black olive with minerality, especially graphite and soot. Drink in 3-4 years as this mouthfeel will continue to develop over time bringing more complexity and power. Pairs well with hearty meats, such as game."
Not yet reviewed; 2010 vintage rated 92 points by Rhone Report: "Easily the best vintage of this to date, the 2010 Les Vignerons d'Estézargues Côtes du Rhône Domaine d'Andézon is a tank and cement aged blend of 90% Syrah and 10% Grenache. Sporting a deep purple color as well as fantastically good aromas of pure blackberry, licorice, lavender, crushed flowers, and wet stone-like minerality on the nose. Very pure and clean, with superb richness and complexity, the wine is medium to fullbodied and beautifully textured on the palate, possessing a full, rich midpalate, excellent balance, juicy acidity, and ripe tannin on the finish that adds additional cut and edge to all the fruit. Straight up delicious and a joy to drink, this is an awesome value that should delight for 3-5 years."

92 points Rhone Report: "There is no Cuvée Barberini in 2011, so the straight Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc gets the grapes normally set aside for that cuvee. A blend of 50% Grenache Blanc, 25% Roussanne, and 25% Bourboulenc that is aged, on lees, in 30% French oak (two-thirds of which are new), it possesses a subtle toasty quality as well as knockout aromas of ripe stone and tropical fruits, brioche, honeysuckle, and assorted floral nuances that flow to a medium to full-bodied, rich, yet elegantly put together white. There is plenty of texture here, but it is gorgeously done and is not heavy in the least. Enjoy it, with a meal, over the coming 2-3 years (although it will age much longer). (Sep 2012)"

90 points Rhone Report: "The 2011 Domaine de la Solitude (Lançon Père et Fils) Côtes du Rhône is a beauty! Showing the vintage suppleness, with a perfumed nose of red fruits, garrigue, and pepper, this medium-bodied 2011 has no hard edges, a soft, easy mid-palate, and fine tannin that gives focus and length on the finish. This will not make old bones, but it is oh so drinkable and delicious. It too would be a perfect case purchase and will shine for 3-4 years. (Sep 2012)"

89 points Rhone Report: "A great Côtes du Rhône Blanc that has superb purity of fruit, the 2011 Domaine de la Janasse Côtes du Rhône Blanc shows plenty of pear, mineral, and melon qualities to go with a medium bodied, lightly textured, fresh palate feel. Balanced, supple, and with clean, integrated acidity, it is a perfect white for starting a meal and will shine for 1-3 years. (Sep 2012)"

91 points Rhone Report: "Another great vintage for this cuvee, the 2011 Château Pesquié Côtes du Ventoux Terrasses, a blend of 70% Grenache and 30% Syrah aged all in tank and old foudre, offers up a perfumed bouquet of sweet red fruits, violets, licorice, sappy garrigue, and hints of minerality that flows to a medium-bodied, gorgeously textured and seamless palate. Needing a short decant to flesh out, this brilliant value has no hard edges, silky tannin, and an elegant, 'oh so drinkable' profile. Enough cannot be said about the quality coming out of this estate, and this wine should be purchase by the case and drunk over the coming 2-4 years. Silky, elegant, and delicious are the buzzwords here and this will drink way past its price point! (Sep 2012)"

The Petit Roy grapes come from a parcel on the commune of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, which borders oxbow lakes of the Rhône beyond the AOC area (Syrah, Grenache). They also come from a parcel located between Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Orange within the Côtes-du-Rhône AOC. The philosophy and vinification governing this wine are identical to the Châteauneuf-du-Pape, right down to the bottling.

A wonderful example of a Northern Rhône Syrah -- white pepper on the nose, gorgeous juicy red and black forest fruits with wonderful structure.
