87 points David Schildknecht (Wine Advocate): "...bright, bracing lemon and lime and borderline grassiness are accompanied by cooling mint, attractively pungent caraway, and a palpable sense of extract and chalky minerality... this gets high marks for sheer tenacity and for its light bulb-like, wake-up personality. (Aug 2008)"

96+ points Sonoma Wine Journal: "Violet robe. Exceptionally pure nose of spicy cherries, and with aeration the bouquet also shows notes of raspberries, iron, minerals, cinnamon, and flowers. The attack is all pure stalky Pinot fruits, still too young to fully enjoy but showing all the hallmarks of a great wine that simply needs time to evolve. Delicious and vibrant, the finely delineated tannins are enmeshed in the silken finish that lasts for nearly 60 seconds. Remarkable balance between the generous composition of fruit, acidity, tannins. For parents with children born in 2007 and who can afford this beauty, this would be an excellent Grand Cru Burgundy to cellar until your child's 21st birthday or other special occasions. From Laurent Ponsot. 13.5% alc. Drink now-2030. (Oct 2010)"

Bettane & Desseauve's Guide to the Wines of France: "...thanks to Christine Dubreuil's more precise, fruit-driven approach, the 2002s -- and all of the wines since -- can be counted on to seduce even the most demanding connoisseur: robust, classically tasty reds and tauter-than-average whites that need several years' cellaring. From the Altesse varietal, Jacquin's Roussette de Savoie Marestel is another delicious, thirst-quenching wine from Savoie, this time with more body than Jacquère or Chasselas, and more subtle aromas than Roussanne. Quince, flowers, apricot and a touch of honey rise from the medium-bodied palate, which finishes with just a hint of mountain tonic. A wonderful match for light to medium-bodied white fish, cold chicken salads, shrimp dim sum, and crab fritters.

Pierre Rovani (Wine Advocate): "...a medium-to-full-bodied wine with super concentration, layers of creamy candied grapefruits, as well as impeccable balance and focus. Older vintages of 'M' de Marionnet have aptly demonstrated that these wines age gracefully, taking on additional complexity, elegance, and richness with cellaring."

Pellehaut, from the Roman "pila haut" (high point), is owned by the Béraut family. Gaston Béraut oversees the domaine, which also includes cattle, wheat and sunflowers. One son, Martin, is the vineyard manager, commonly found between the vines. The other, Mathieu, is the winemaker. Mathieu studied under Yves Grassa at nearby Château de Tariquet, as well as at Château Beycheville in Bordeaux and, during one harvest in the nineties, was Jim Clendenon' right-hand man at Au Bon Climat in Southern California. Ampelomeryx is a blend of Chardonnay and Petit Manseng, fermented and aged in new oak.

André Perret is one of the leading producers of Northern Rhône whites. The 2002 Condrieu Clos Chanson was aged and fermented in 20% new oak barriques and boasts a plethora of fresh peach, pear and nectarine fruits, touches of mineral and wild honey together with a hint of nutty oak.

Not yet reviewed; 2008 vintage rated 88 points by Wine Advocate: "The Reverdy 2008 Sancerre Rouge Terre de Maimbray -- from fruit grown on pure white chalk; subjected to greater selectivity, cold soak, and longer fermentation; and rendered entirely in barrel -- suggests a tart blackberry and red currant melange suffused with salt and chalk, and a sense of chewy fruit skin complimented by glyceral richness. It will probably be worth following for a couple more years."

Producer notes: "This well-balanced wine has typical aromas of violet with an emphasis on fruit, and comes from nine different vineyards of the Gamay varietal, which are located throughout the Moulin a Vent appellation. The refinement and richness of this wine is revealed by a soft wine making technique, maceration under CO2 and a six-month aging process in wooden vats and barrels."
