This 16 year old Aberlour has been matured in two cask types, traditional oak casks and the finest of sherry casks. Color: Rich golden amber. Nose: Rich, dry scented floral and sweet raisin aromas with a spicy nuttiness. Palate: Smooth, full, sweet floral and spicy flavors with a soft plum fruitiness and gentle oakiness. Finish: Long, warm spicy fruitiness.
90-95 points Superb/Highly Recommended Wine Enthusiast: "The bouquet is austere and leathery with curious aromas of beeswax, vegetable oil and oaky resin. Palate entry is focused on the resin; midpalate is splendidly multilayered and offers elements of black pepper, dried orange blossom, honeysuckle, dried fruit, sage, fennel and confections. Aftertaste is deep and unabashedly sweet and honeyed. (12/15/09)"
Michael Jackson (Malt Whisky Companion): "Lovers of the richer style of Speyside malt rightly regard Aberlour as being in the top echelon."

Matured exclusively in Spanish oak Oloroso Sherry butts, the rarest and most precious casks used for maturation and bottled at cask strength, a'bunadh possesses an unrivaled aromatic intensity. A richer mouth-feel and flavor complexity is achieved by bottling without the use of modern day chill-filtering methods. Nose: Full flavors, slightly smoky with red apples and a fine sherry character. Taste: Intense fruity flavors. Buttery and creamy with a syrupy fruit sweetness. Soft on the palate with a rich chocolate orange-like note. Finish: Long mouth warming feeling and mellowness. Slightly peaty with a honey and spicy aftertaste.
96-100 points Classic/Highest Recommendation Wine Enthusiast: "Intriguing and challenging bouquet of aromas of roasted nuts, old leather, black pepper, old oak and dried fruit. Palate entry is aggressive in spirit, but sweet and pruny; midpalate is drier and features tastes of leather and grain. Aftertaste teems with oak resin, hard cheese (meaning, rancio), candied nuts, candied fruit and dark honey. Add mineral water. (12/15/09)"
Wine Spectator: "Fruity. Brave the cask-strength heat and be rewarded by a malt that's welcoming and complex. Sherry and cherry dominate at first, but a cereal-granola-honey quality and a licorice note flirt from behind the curtain. The essential candy element returns on the finish. (2/28/11)"

This rich, spicy 18 year old from Aberlour was only released for general consumption in 2008; prior to this it had only been produced for the French market. Nose: Creamy, like melted vanilla ice-cream. Fruity and honeyed. Palate: Fresh juicy apples and oranges before sherry kicks in with supple sultanas and vanilla. Finish: Intricate with chocolate raisins and oily caramel notes.

***** Highest Recommendation, The Spirit Journal: "Its strength is that is does not flaunt the peat; rather it gives way to the malt, the natural sweetness of which subtly produces the perfect balance."A tour de force of the first Islay rank, and a classic in the making."
Wine Spectator: "Peaty. An alluring Islay example, with a big peat nose that's balanced out by salt spray and iodine. Delights on the palate with honey, bread dough and candy flavors that mix pleasingly with the remains of peat and salt. The finish is long and candied, with a whiff of smoke at the end. Non-chill filtered. 54.2 ABV. (2/28/11)"

Producer notes: "The first release of Balblair 2001 is sparkling golden in appearance. This full bodied malt displays unmistakable Balblair characteristics: floral notes and aromas of fresh fruits such as oranges, apples and lemons. The American oak, ex bourbon casks, used in maturation impart distinctive toffee and vanilla notes. On the palate it is sweet and spicy; fresh fruits dominate and combine with toffee to create a balanced flavour and a long lasting finish."

Producer notes: "Balblair 2000 is bright golden in appearance. A superbly well balanced, full-bodied malt with aromas of pears, pineapple and green apples; hints of honey and vanilla, that come from the long years of maturation in American ex bourbon oak barrels, can also be detected, adding to the complexity of this exceptional Vintage. On the palate the sweet, honey, floral notes combined with hints of coconut and rich spices lead to a smooth, long lasting and warming finish."

****Highly Recommended, F. Paul Pacult (Spirit Journal): "Very pretty golden color; impeccable purity. Opening inhalations detect green tea and earthy/leafy notes of delicacy and grace; later sniffs after seven minutes of aeration encounter sweeter aromas, especially brown sugar, cotton candy and marzipan. Entry is slightly oily, piquant and spicy; midpalate showcases assertive flavors of vanilla bean, clove, dates, and dried apricot. Concludes elegantly, with a touch of the oil noted at the entry. 43% abv. (Dec 2010)"

****/Highly Recommended, F. Paul Pacult (Spirit Journal): "[$65 list] Bright bronze/amber color; impeccable clarity. Smells of barley malt, light peat, and chocolate covered orange peel in the initial whiffs; the depth of the barley fragrance knows no limits and that brewery house/distillery quality is fetching in its own right; love this malty, no nonsense bouquet. Entry is semisweet, with succulent tastes of brown sugar, nougat, and almonds coated in chocolate; the bakery/sweet shop feast continues in the midpalate stage as the taste profile turns slightly away from the sweetness and more towards the oiliness/resininess of the oak influence, thereby making for a highly complex and intricate taste experience. What Speyside is all about, mon amis. (Sep 2009)"
Malt Master, David Stewart, marries aged Balvenie from the finest first fill bourbon, refill and sherry casks to create this signature malt, characterized by honey, spice and subtle oak. Nose: Rich and complex with honey, citrus, fruits and vanilla oak notes. Taste: Rich and honeyed with a hint of sherry fruitiness. A spiciness of cinnamon and nutmeg and a subtle oakiness develop with time. Finish: Warm and lingering.

Wine Spectator: "Peaty. A refreshing malt, notable for its transition from a slightly austere nose of olive oil, seaweed and a whiff of peat to a glamorous palate of honey candy and spice. Finishes rather quickly with aromatic spices. Non-chill filtered. Natural color. (2/28/11)"
Created using lightly peated malted barley in a time-honoured distillation process, taking advantage of the pure spring water that flows freely underground away from the peaty moorlands. The nose offers a fresh and aromatic experience, with a subtle whiff of smoke floating through the air. The taste starts with a light fruit and nut appeal that leads to a spectacular malty sweetness. The finish develops into a beautifully rich, full-bodied, lingering experience.

Superb (90-95)/Highly Recommended, Wine Enthusiast: "A seductive brininess and waves of oily peat-reek greet the olfactory sense. The palate entry finds a surprisingly buttery-creamy leaning along with the peat-reek; at midpalate the flavor becomes concentrated, oily, malty sweet, and only moderately peaty. Ends on a sweet malty note. Builds from stage to stage, each phase being better than the last. Best Buy."

'Scotch Whisky Blend of the Year', The Malt Advocate: "One of the advantages of a blended whisky is that the blender can combine different whiskies to create a balance of flavors. An essay in balance on both the nose and palate. Silky layers of delicate sweetness (honeyed vanilla, caramel, light toffee) permeated through clean, delicate fruit (citrus, peach, currant) and subtle complex, dried spice. It has a clean finish, with a hint of dark chocolate."
'Top 50 Spirits of 2008' and Classic (96-100)/Highest Recommendation, Wine Enthusiast: "The wonderful bouquet includes scents of bacon fat, honey, orange rind with deepeer smells of black pepper, cinnamon, vanilla bean and pipe tobacco. Entry is silky smooth, semisweet, concentrated and honeyed; the midpalate offers grainy sweet, yet spicy, tangy, fruity, nutty and floral tastes. The oak element really emerges in the aftertaste, ideally completing this sensational blended Scotch. One of the finest blended Scotches in the world.
Named to the Spirit Journal's '140 Best Five Star Spirits in the World for 2012 (#43)': "To my way of thinking, Chivas Brothers Master Blender Colin Scott is as good as it gets in the whisky blending game. I keep Chivas 18 around in my office as a late afternoon bracer and I must say that of all the whiskies I have close at hand, it's the one that I turn to when it's been a rough day. There's just something terribly comfortable and reassuring about it that soothes and enlightens and calms. (Jun 2012)"
92 points The Tasting Panel: "Full aromas of smoke, dry hay and toasted oak; lush and ripe with lovely nuanced and long flavors; smooth and balanced. (Jan/Feb 2011)"
Master Blender Colin Scott's pinnacle triumph is still this chewy, woody, toffee-like beauty that's only the slightest smidgen behind rival Johnnie Walker Gold in overall character. I wouldn't want to have to live on the difference. Another prime specimen of blending genius and Scotch whisky at its supple, elegant best." - F. Paul Picault

Fruity aroma, clean and fresh, with characteristic finess of Craggamore. On the palate, fruity and full-bodied. Orange and port wine notes. Noticeably less dry than usual. Deep, lush notes of port, resin, and a hint of plum. Finishes with some malty smokiness. Aged in bourbon casks, and finished in ruby port barrels.

Nose: Silky, elegant and rich: currant bushes, sweet fruits, honey, cream, leather, rich malt, chestnut. Water makes it smokier. Fruity with a savory edge. Palate: Lovely weight: honey, blackberry, cooked fruits, walnut, dried apricot. A mid- to back-palate whisky which is robust, yet silky; meaty but elegant. The word is complex. Finish: Tingle of heathery smoke binding it together.

Gaelic meaning "the meeting place." Only the pure, cold water from the nearby abundant spring, which flows underground before bubbling forth into the distillery, is used. The result is a soft, whisper finish. It is an ideal alternative to liqueurs with its heathery delicate finish. The taste is light with a fruity sweet aroma. An aromatic malt, very easy to drink.

Malt Advocate: "This new 12 year old 'Original' expression is certainly my favorite of the 12s (and the 15). I feel that Glendronach expresses itself best when it is not dominated by the sherry, allowing a greater balance of flavors. This whisky was originally matured in sherry casks, but was then (fortunately) aged in bourbon casks for the remainder of its maturation. The result? A richly flavored, nicely balanced whisky expressing notes of sherried fruit, burnt caramel, light toffee, and nuts, all underpinned by a soothing malty foundation. Yum! (2004 3rd Quarter (Vol. 13, #3))"
