93 points and 'Top 50 Spirits 2011,' Wine Enthusiast: "Complex and appealingly herbal, this spirit is marked by its coffee-brown color and a scent like spearmint-spiked espresso. The flavor is sweet, faintly coffee-like, with warm Dutch licorice, anise and sarsaparilla notes. The brisk finish is minty then bitter. Heavy, syrupy feel. (Feb 2011)"
**** Highly Recommended, F.Paul Pacult (Spirit Journal): "Opaque, deep brown/black color. Smells tantalizingly of bittersweet dark chocolate, orange peel, and herbs in the first aromatic go-round; further air contact stimulates aromas of flowers, jasmine, bark, forest, honey and very light quinine. The palate entry is intensely sweet and more floral than herbal; at midpalate the taste profile turns cocoa-like with other notes of citrus rind, molasses, brown sugar, and grass. Concludes sweet, thick, and luscious."

94 points The Tasting Panel: "One of Scotland's oldest distilleries (1790) is being re-introduced to the U.S. market with this lovely 18-year expression; fragrant and softly grassy with dry, spicy flavors; light but very flavorful with elegance, a slight briny sea-foam nuance and showing hints of shortbread and vanilla; a charming surprise. (Jan/Feb 2011)"
Wine Spectator: "Fruity. A surprisingly big whisky given its range of characteristics normally associated with lighter whiskies. A very floral attack on the nose turns to honey, orange peel and grapefruit, becoming very candied in the mouth, with toffee, cocoa, orange, tangerine and some licorice. Finishes long, showing a bit of Stilton at the close. Non-chill filtered. Natural color. (2/28/11)"
Balblair 1991 is golden honey in appearance. A full-bodied malt with aromas of oranges, grapefruit and lemon; hints of chocolate and leather can also be detected. The American oak barrels used in the distillate's maturation, lend a warm toffee, vanilla fragrance. On the palate it is sweet, slightly spicy with traces of butterscotch and orange; smooth to start leading to a long-lasting, warming finish.

Intriguing aromas of orange marmalade, dried apricot, spice cake, pineapple blossoms and suede with a vibrant, dry-yet-fruity medium-to-full body and a long, orange bread crust, peach cobbler, peppery spice and limestone accented finish. A remarkably fruity, exotic and enigmatic whisky that will make unique cocktails. (7/5/11)"
This oddity is neither like Scotch nor any other kind of aged spirit. Made in the Cognac region of France from a blend of malted barley and wheat, it's aged five to seven years in a combination of Limousin oak, cherry wood and acacia casks. The result is rich in cherry, peach, pear, almond and vanilla scents while the flavor combines sweeter floral qualities of Bourbon with a Cognac and Calvados fruitiness. Once you get over the urge to categorize it, the spirit is very easy to drink. Maybe it's the French love for wine, but with a little sweet vermouth and bitters, it makes a fantastic Manhattan. 40% abv.

A distinctive feature of Beluga Vodka is the hyaline artesian water from Siberian springs used in the distillation process, and malt spirit made from coached malt enzymes that help significantly improve the taste. Malt gives Beluga Vodka a deep and refined taste and flavor. Distillation takes about a month -- from filtration, smoothing and a lengthy product 'maturation'. Beluga Vodka comes in bottles made of crystal-pure French glass, and each bottle is manually decorated with a 3D symbol of beluga fish.

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Sweet, mild, clean fragrance of lemon, juniper and licorice. This is a complex gin; more flavors can be detected with each sip: cinnamon spice, astringent pine needles, a touch of lime zest and, finally, a big licorice finish comes singing through. Slightly oily feel. Great for a gimlet or martini with a lemon twist. (Apr 2011)"
****Highly Recommended, F. Paul Pacult (Spirit Journal): "Transparent and impeccably clean. In the inital nosings I detect obvious scents of black peppercorn and juniper, with the pepper eclipsing the juniper by a degree or two; further aeration time stimulates some of the other botanicals, most prominently cassia bark, lemon peel and coriander for an intriguing bouquet wherein I pick up a smidgen more juniper than in regular Sapphire. Entry is botanically pleasing, but a touch sweet and fruity ripe, and therefore fuller in texture than the too-ethereal-for-me regular Sapphire; midpalate features piny/cedary juniper and the Thai lemongrass, as the black pepper aspect diminishes. Finishes cleanly, with a late gas pedal jolt of juniper and licorice. A line extension that overshadows the original Sapphire. (Dec 2011)"
Distilled by a unique vapour infusion process using 10 carefully selected botanicals. Delivers a complex, yet smooth taste. Try it in the ultimate martini or the preferred gin and tonic.

This is a small batch vodka made in Pennsylvania from locally grown potatoes by two guys using a copper still. The result is a softer, creamier style of vodka that is milder on the palate than most. This is vodka made by people who really care about quality and precision, and that's obvious at first sip.
*****Highest Recommendation and ranked best vodka of '140 Top Five-Star Spirits in the World', F. Paul Pacult (Spirit Journal): "Wow, this aroma comes flying out of the glass in waves of white potato, starch, and parchment; seven more minutes of aeration don't greatly alter the aromatic profile, but there is a noticeable deepening of the established scents, especially the raw white potato element. Entry is nothing short of luscious, semisweet, chewy, and smooth; midpalate adds cocoa bean, maple, and honey. Aftertaste is graceful, solid, and simply delicious. The best small-scale vodka I've had since the 45th Parallel. So sumptuous and tasty that it's spectacular tasted neat. Best non-Polish vodka available. AWESOME ACHIEVEMENT!"

90 points Anthony Dias Blue (The Tasting Panel): "Rich sweet coconut nose; sweet, silky and showing authentic, creamy coconut cream and ripe, smooth rum; lush, spiced and offering a welcome kick of alcohol heat. (Jun 2012)"
Wine Enthusiast: "36% abv. Some spiced rums are merely colored, not aged; but this nut-brown spirit is made from a base of rum aged for four years in oak barrels. With that context, the boozy and slightly Bourbon-like toffee aroma makes perfect sense. Needs a little time in the glass to open up the flavors, but the reward is a sweet, subtly clove- and ginger-spiced spirit with a bitter almond finish. (Aug 2011)"
Brinley's "Shipwreck" is blended to match the old rums distilled with the exotic spices that would drift ashore from the fallen ships. This delicious spiced rum displays hints of orange, vanilla, nutmeg, and clove that are masterfully infused into a 4 year old blend. Smooth and flavorful, it can be enjoyed neat or in your favorite summer cocktail.

This would be great mixed into cocktails, because the flavor is smooth but bold at the same time; it would blend without being completely lost. Finishes mellow, smooth, with just enough alcohol bite. Easy to like. Think Manhattans or Old-Fashioneds. (Sep 2010)"
Jim Murray (Whiskey Magazine): "One of the world's great whiskies." Producer notes: "Light bronze in color with streaks of gold, Buffalo Trace Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey bears a complex aroma of vanilla, mint, and molasses. Its taste is pleasantly sweet and contains notes of brown sugar and spice that give way to oak and leather. The long and dry finish has significant depth. When enjoyed with water, flavors of toffee, dark fruit and anise are revealed."
Wine Spectator: "(style: classic - sweet corn and vanilla) You'll get sweet cinnamon and rich corn pudding in the nose, with hints of meadow grass and bergamot. This one's warm and rich, nicely balanced by drying oak that tamps down the cinnamon from the nose. Well-balanced and sippable. 90 proof. (1/31/12)"
Eric Felten (Wall Street Journal): "Nicely balanced, with a deep and slightly bitter wood, keeping rich fruit in check." (4/26/08)

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "If 'sipping mezcal' doesn't exist, the category may have to be created for this limited-edition mezcal (only 14 three-bottle sets were produced). This 'single village' mezcal is aged for 14 years in glass bottles and then is finished in a Stags Leap Cabernet barrel for 43 days. The result is a light nut-brown color and offers beautiful aromas of raisin, vanilla and dark chocolate, with a mellow pepper note in the background. Sweet agave nectar and honey flavors finish with a muted peppery sting. (Dec 2010)"
