Voted 'Best of the Best' by Robb Report Magazine. Awarded multiple Gold and Double Golds at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. At first, you are puzzled, if not thrilled, by the semisweet, delicate, honey-like opening sniffs; the honey component expands to include vanilla, buttercream and light toffee. Finishes smoothly, with a honeyed sweetness.

Producer notes: "Balblair 1989 is subtly amber in appearance with rose gold highlights. A full-bodied malt with aromas of raisin, green apple and hints of banana and lemon. The American oak barrels, used in the distillate's maturation, lend a warm toffee, vanilla fragrance. On the palate there are raisins and fruits with a rich spiciness leading to a long, complex and ultimately smooth finish."

94 points The Tasting Panel: "One of Scotland's oldest distilleries (1790) is being re-introduced to the U.S. market with this lovely 18-year expression; fragrant and softly grassy with dry, spicy flavors; light but very flavorful with elegance, a slight briny sea-foam nuance and showing hints of shortbread and vanilla; a charming surprise. (Jan/Feb 2011)"
Wine Spectator: "Fruity. A surprisingly big whisky given its range of characteristics normally associated with lighter whiskies. A very floral attack on the nose turns to honey, orange peel and grapefruit, becoming very candied in the mouth, with toffee, cocoa, orange, tangerine and some licorice. Finishes long, showing a bit of Stilton at the close. Non-chill filtered. Natural color. (2/28/11)"
Balblair 1991 is golden honey in appearance. A full-bodied malt with aromas of oranges, grapefruit and lemon; hints of chocolate and leather can also be detected. The American oak barrels used in the distillate's maturation, lend a warm toffee, vanilla fragrance. On the palate it is sweet, slightly spicy with traces of butterscotch and orange; smooth to start leading to a long-lasting, warming finish.

***/Recommended, F. Paul Pacult (Spirit Journal): "Highly attractive copper/burnished orange color; nearly flawless purity. Shows the Balvenie aromatic thumbprint of barley/ligh peat but goes further with lovely traces of oak resin, salted butter, and salted almond; further aeration stimulates supplemental notes of wax, black raisins, and parchment. Entry is sleek, nuanced in its portiness, and gently not overtly sweet; midpalate is fuller than the entry and more generous in flavor, offering oak-driven vanillin and traces of ruby port, lead pencil, bark, and dried nectarine. Concludes fruity, dry, and medium-rich. (Sep 2009)"
Its unique barrel aging, floor malting and labor intensive craftsmanship make this one of the most sought after single malt scotch whiskies. A perfume nose of fruity and ripe raisin notes, backed by a nutty dryness. It is creamy and silky with fruit, honey and spice notes, and has a long and gentle nutty finish. Matured in traditional oak casks for 21 years, then transferred to fine port wine casks, where it is sampled monthly by the Balvenie Malt Master, who ensures that just the right amount of character is imparted to the spirit. This process enhances and develops the single malt, while preserving its original characteristics.

Built in 1540, Chateau de Briat first served as the hunting manor for Queen Jeanne d'Albret whose son, Henri de Navarre, later Henri IV, King of France, often stayed in the castle. Seven hectares of vines are divided between Bacco, Folle Blanche and Colombard. Topping up of the barrels is not practiced; at Briat, they prefer to let the levels fall, promoting air contact. This creates a spirit that is less aggressive than most. The armagnacs of Briat epitomize the magical wonders that one can find floating in a glass of Gascon spirit; always lots of nose, a rich palate feel, and excellent length. This vintage Armagnac is more velvety and complex than the Hors d'Age, with dark flavors of coffee, caramel and cocoa.

This was distilled at Blair Athol in May 1989. It was then aged for 23 years in cask 2930 before bottling in June 2012 for Duncan Taylor's Dimensions range. A release of just 270 numbered bottles. Toasty, bread like nose with apple crumble, custard, raisins and cocoa. Spiced palate with pepper, stem ginger and toffee apples. Hints of cinnamon develop. Long finish with zinging spices and pepper.

This rare single malt is aged for a minimum of 19 years in former Oloroso Sherry and Bourbon casks, then transferred into Madeira casks for the final two years of its maturation. The result is a whiskey of considerable depth that interweaves dried fruit flavors with spicy, aromatic maltiness and subtle, nutty, toasted raisin notes. Gold Medal 2007 SF World Spirits Competition.

96 points Wine Enthusiast: "Although billed as a joven, this Tequila is blended with a touch of añejo. The end result is extraordinarily smooth, with a very sweet, fruity, almost wine-like nose but a bold, pure peppery flavor that finishes cleanly. The packaging is gift-worthy, presenting the bottle in a gold-and-robin’s egg blue box, like a precious jewel. Abv 40%. (May 2013)"

Producer notes: "There is a lot of story to be told in this one bottle of Mackinlay's Rare Old Highland Malt. A meticulous re-creation of the original whisky shipped to Antarctica in 1907 by Shackleton to fortify his 'Nimrod' expedition, this rare spirit has been a long time in the making. Abandoned to the Antarctic winter in early 1909, five wooden crates of Shackleton's malt were buried deep in the ice beneath the expedition hut. Unearthed almost a century later by the New Zealand Antarctic Heritage Trust, a single crate was flown to Canterbury Museum in New Zealand for careful preservation. Heralded as 'a gift from heaven for whisky lovers,' the long-lost malt provided the inspiration for this faithful re-creation of both the whisky using contemporary aged stocks and its distinctive packaging presentation. The result celebrates the unique character of both man and malt. It commemorates the enduring spirit of another time."
Tasting notes: On the nose, the Mackinlay’s Rare Old is aromatic and floral, with notions of the barrel’s brown sugar and vanilla. It is delicate and fruit driven. On the mouth (neat), the feel is brisk, clean and smooth with a mild cigar bite at the end. There are refreshing notes of spice, vanilla and mild bitter orange.

96 points and 'Top 50 Spirits 2011,' Wine Enthusiast: "Complex and flavorful, with raisin and fresh apple aromas in a supersoft, silky texture. Add a splash of water to coax out intense clove, burnt orange, caramel and crème brûlée notes. The smoky finish is the long-lingering type that whisky aficionados exclaim over for 10 minutes as the flavors continue to kaleidoscope. For maximum enjoyment, sip without any whisky aficionados around. (Sep 2011)"
This exclusive new expression pays homage to the first ever Chivas Regal blend, also a 25 year old whisky, which was shipped from Aberdeen, Scotland to New York in 1909 to satisfy the sophisticated palate of American high society. Thanks to the exceptional inventory laid down many years ago, they have been able to create a rare and prestigious blend of the finest aged whiskies.

Cognac Park XO Vieille Fine Champagne is made from exceptional grapes, thus resulting in a cognac of outstanding quality. Its deep opulent darker color glistening with blond hues is indicative of its complex, yet balanced style. Commencing with the combination of light and musky scents of honey, saffron, and gingerbread, and tinted with fresh cranberries and vanilla, the palate of this full-bodied cognac complements its initial aromas by bringing the flavors together into a strong harmonious finish with subtle surprises concluding with a long aftertaste.

Producer notes: "100% Grande Champagne. The top of the range that must lie alongside the very best of all Cognacs. Led to excellent and superior quality in wooden casks and underlined with the distinct flavors of rancio, this more masculine cognac emits a leathery bouquet of bitter dark chocolate, raw peanuts, and fresh white pepper. These aromas merge into a round palate wih a velvety and enduring finish."

Producer notes: "100% Grande Champage. Unlike the other blended cognacs of our range (Pale & Dry XO, Vesper...) this Vintage cognac is a single cask cognac. Style: A Grande Champagne cognac, very fruity and elegant. Bouquet: Power of perfume, length of frangrance. Underwood aromas, dry grapes, grilled almonds, rancio. Savour: Long and fruity. Colour: Each cask imparts its own colour to the cognac: generally paler and more brilliant than most of the other old cognacs."
