Wine Enthusiast: "A soft, almond-flavored wine packed with sweet strawberries. There is good acidity balanced by some caramel and softness, which make this a good bet as an apéritif wine." From 100% Pinot Noir.

93 points Robert Parker: "[$45 list] This is a gorgeous effort, made from a blend of 80% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Cropped at 22 hectoliters per hectare from their clay over limestone soils, the wine displays oodles of new oak, crushed chalk, and blueberry and blackberry fruit with hints of raspberries and pen ink. It is full-bodied and layered, with a fleshy, even succulent mid-palate and a long, long finish. This is terrific Castillon to drink over the next 10-15+ years. (Feb 2012)"
93 points James Suckling: "This is big and juicy with lovely blackberry and chocolate character. Full and round with pretty fruit and a long finish. A beautiful wine from Castillon. Fabulous. From owner of Pavie and Pavie Decesse. Try after 2016. (4/29/12)"
90 points Wine Spectator: "Shows the ripe, fleshy, polished profile of the vintage, with mouthfilling plum, blackberry paste and fig fruit flavors caressed by subtle cocoa and tobacco shadings on the finish. A crowd-pleaser. Drink now through 2017. 1,665 cases made. (6/30/12)"
Decanter: "Gerard Perse of Château Pavie in St-Emilion bought the former Château Lapeyronie in 2001. The Perse style -- with a preference for super-ripe grapes and prolonged barrel-ageing -- is replicated here, with the wines aged for up to two years in 60% new oak. They are predictably opulent, sometimes thick in texture, and quite extracted and tannic. Perhaps not to everyone's taste, but Clos Les Lunelles is in the forefront of modern-style Castillon. (Jul 2012)" -Stephen Brook

*SPECIAL: Take 10% Off Listed Price! (We'll reduce item's price when processing your order.) 91 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The flagship 'Black Label' non-vintage Brut from Lanson is as good today as I can ever recall this bottling being in the past. The deep, complex and very classy nose offers up a fine mélange of tart orange, apple, stony minerality, gentle leesiness and a dollop of spring flowers in the upper register. On the palate the wine is deep, fullish and quite crisp, with admirable complexity, fine focus, very elegant mousse and lovely length and grip on the zesty and beautifully balanced finish. Being a non-malo house, the Lanson Brut NV seems to have more reserve wines included in the current cuvée to buffer the bouncy acidity and add depth and dimension to the wine. Lovely non-vintage Brut. 2014-2035+. (Jul/Aug 2012)"
90 points Wine Spectator: "[$50 list] Firm and smoky, offering flavors of candied cherry, bread dough, lemon zest and toasted raisin bread, with a lively bead. Moderate finish. Drink now through 2015."
'Editors' Choice,' Wine Enthusiast: "Lanson’s Black Label is one of the most familiar Champagne brands, well known for its rich but dry style. It needs some bottle age--as has happened with this bottling--to soften the crispness. The wine is rounded out with toast, puff pastry and freshened with apple skins. (Dec 2009)"
The Finest Wines of Champagne: "50% Pinot Noir, 35% Chardonnay, 15% Pinot Meunier. Dosage 11g/l. Bright yellow with green tints. The nose is all freshness, green apples and pears, while the palate is full but vigorous, with tastes of both citrus fruits, like lemons, and stone fruits, like cherries. The end flavors are so clean and brisk but without any harshness. A great Champagne for clams and sea urchins, as well as for oysters. (Dec 2008)"
Producer notes: "Champagne Lanson was founded in 1760 and is one of the oldest Grande Marque Champagne Houses. Lanson is the fourth largest Champagne House in the world and is best known for its Brut Non Vintage, the Lanson Black Label. Lanson is one of the very few Champagne Houses which avoids malolactic fermentation. This practice retains the freshness and fruitiness of each cuvee and enables the wines to age longer. Aged a minimum of three years, the Lanson Black Label is a blend of 35% chardonnay, 50% pinot noir, and 15% pinot meunier. An impressive range of 40 to 50 crus are blended together to form this Brut Champagne. They are vinified separately to provide the cellar master with an exceptional choice of aromas, thus guaranteeing the consistent Lanson style. The nose provides an impression of vitality and scents of spring mixed with a touch of 'toast' and honey. The palate reveals a bouquet of ripe fruits and citrus fruits."

Producer notes: "Sophisticated and polished, this wine reflects its mature, low-yielding vineyard components. The aroma is bursting with lychee fruit, fig, guava and ripe pear. This solid fruit core is wrapped in a mantle of subtle, creamy oak, with just a touch of minerality. In the mouth, it shows a vibrant, mouthwatering acidity with a hint of pink grapefruit on the smooth finish."
Not yet reviewed; 2010 vintage rated 93 points by California Grapevine: "Medium-light yellow; attractive, slightly buttery, floral, melon and peach aroma with hints of grapefruit and a trace of minerality; medium-full body; fairly rich and fleshy in the mouth with a silky mouthfeel and flavors of melon, white peach, citrus, and sweet oak; lingering aftertaste. A very appealing and stylish wine with some complexity and elegance. Very highly recommended. 14.1% alcohol; 100% Sauvignon Blanc (including 33% of the Sauvignon Musqué clone); 100% barrel fermented; 0% malolactic fermentation; released April 2011."

94-96 points Neal Martin (Wine Advocate): "This is initially very muted on the nose, but it unfurls seductively with subtle, perfumed aromas of lime leaf, white peach, fresh apricot and touches of white flowers: very pretty and well defined. The palate is beautifully balanced, so pure and succinct with wonderful precision towards the vibrant, white peach and apricot finish. This is a wonderful Sauternes and one of their best wines in recent years. (Apr 2010)"
94-96 points Wine Enthusiast: "Great acidity here, but allied with considerable richness, there are flavors of orange marmalade, spicy tannins, a complex structure of very fresh fruits and dry botrytis. (Aug 2010)"
91-94 points Ian D'Agata (International Wine Cellar): "(80% semillon and 20% sauvignon; 13.7% alcohol; 138 g/l residual sugar)) Medium-deep, saturated orange-gold. Vibrant aromas of tangerine, grapefruit, passion fruit, rose water and ripe cantaloupe, with plenty of botrytis character. Enters the mouth juicy and fresh, displaying great depth to its pure flavors of orange, peach, tea leaf, cantaloupe and oatmeal. Very sweet, but with balancing acidity that is positively exhilarating. Finishes with lovely lingering smoky perfume. This is by far the best young Rabaud-Promis I recall tasting. (May 2010)"
90-93 points Wine Spectator: "Sliced pear and apple, with honey and spices. Full-bodied, with apple pie and honey flavors and a pretty finish. (2010)"
4 stars Decanter: "Muted apricot nose, quite oaky. Creamy, with ample mandarin fruit. Balanced. Good length. Drink: 2013-2025. Alc: 13%. (Jul 2012)"

*SPECIAL: Take 10% Off Listed Price! (We'll reduce item's price when processing your order.) Producer notes: "Comprised of barrels selected out of both old (planted in 1973) and younger (planted in 1999) blocks at Bien Nacido. This year’s cuvee comes from mostly old vines from the western edge of the vineyard where there is more clay and a few younger blocks to the east where there is more shale and gravel over the loam. I believe the clay gives the wine more plushness and acidity, and the shale/gravel its minerality. Forest floor, Mandarin orange, spice, chalky tannin. 149 cases produced. Alcohol 13.5%."
Not yet reviewed; 2010 vintage rated 91 points and 'Outstanding' by Allen Meadows (Burghound): "A beautifully spicy nose evidences a touch of sandalwood along with hints of red cherry and raspberry. The palate impression is lush to the point of opulence yet the middle weight flavors retain a good sense of verve as well as fine acid/fruit balance on the intense and solidly persistent finish. This is lovely and while it could certainly be approached now, it will be better with a few years of cellar time. Drink: 2015+."
