Producer notes: "The Da Vinci Chianti is deep crimson in color with aromas of cherries and red fruit balanced by soft, round tannins."
Wine Spectator: "A rich red, backed by good acidity, leaving space for its cocoa dust, blackberry and spice notes. Just a bit burly on the finish. Drink now through 2012. (2/28/11)"

89 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "[$18 list] Sportoletti’s Assisi Rosso is one of the great values in Italian wine, and the 2008 is another in a long line of gorgeous wines. Ripe red cherries, tobacco, sweet herbs and spices are some of the nuances that emerge from this juicy, plump offering. The 2008 is a touch more lithe than some previous vintages but it is nevertheless outstanding for its overall balance and sense of harmony. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2013. (Jun 2010)"
Two Glasses, Gambero Rosso: "The [2008] Assisi Rosso ... embodies the spirit of this Guide. Its constant high quality is astonishing ... It is an immediate wine having intriguing scents and combining fruity notes with delicate, spice flavors. The mouth is smooth and full, never banal or too heavy... Good as always, this sangiovese, merlot, and cabernet sauvignon blend has an incomparable price/quality ratio... (2010)"

92 points Wine & Spirits: "[$30 list] Blended from vineyards in the Awatere and Wairau valleys--some of the lots fermented with added yeast, some without--this is a pure and rosy pinot with spiciness that lasts. A hint of gamey complexity at the end makes this a delicate match for roast quail stuffed with wild mushrooms. (Feb 2011)"
Michael Cooper's Buyer's Guide to New Zealand Wines: "...this is often New Zealand's best-value Pinot Noir. Grown in the Awatere and Wairau valleys, it is hand-picked, fermented partly with indigenous years, and matured for nine months in French oak barriques (typically 40 per cent new). The 2008 is... ruby-hued, medium-bodied, with cherry, plum and spice flavours and ripe, supple tannins. Sweet-fruited, it's an intensely varietal wine that should reward moderate cellaring... (2010)"
Producer notes: "A perfumed bouquet of red and dark cherries, plums and spice notes. Fruit driven and elegant, with long layers of flavour, full-bodied and well-balanced with fine, grainy tannins. This wine is concentrated and rich -- an elegant Pinot Noir with finesse and complexity. This wine can be enjoyed now but with careful cellaring will continue to develop for another five to eight years. Serving suggestion: Red and white meats including lamb, beef, venison, duck, rabbit and wild game."

Producer notes: "Villiera was amongst the pioneers of (partially) wooded Chenin Blanc in the Cape, which results in a very integrated wine. The aim was to produce a rich, ripe wine which could handle a dimension of oak and would improve over an extended period. Intense fruit with a hint of wood spice on the nose, including pineapple, guava and citrus. On the palate, this wine is rich and full bodied with good balance and a long finish."
