87 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from 10 to 15 year old vines). This also displays a classic nose of green fruit, citrus and oyster shell nuances that can be found on the very fresh, crisp and dry flavors that possess enough flesh to be enjoyed now but I would advise cellaring this for 2 to 3 years first. In sum, perfectly good if not distinguished for its level. Drink: 2012+. (Oct 2010)"

89 points and 'Best Buy,' Wine & Spirits: "A blend of 70 percent malbec with corvina, this is made in the style of a ripasso. In spite of the warmth of its alcohol, it feels refreshing, the acidity like a beacon illuminating the red fruit flavor. For veal slow-braised with sweet spices. (Feb 2012)"
Producer notes: "70% Malbec, 30% semi-dried Corvina. A deep-coloured red with violet notes. A decisive bouquet of ripe, jammy fruits, especially prune, with a further suggestion of licorice. Great structure immediately on the palate with a well maintained acidity, nicely balanced by decisive and lively tannins. The generous nose makes for a pleasantly dry finish. The technique used here is Masi’s speciality: double fermentation. After soft pressing of the Malbec grapes, on-skin fermentation lasted 16 days in stainless steel tanks at a constant 23-27°C. The second fermentation was induced with selected yeasts and used 30% of whole Corvina grapes given a brief appassimento treatment before pressing. 13.5% alcohol."

89 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "[$18 list] Sportoletti’s Assisi Rosso is one of the great values in Italian wine, and the 2008 is another in a long line of gorgeous wines. Ripe red cherries, tobacco, sweet herbs and spices are some of the nuances that emerge from this juicy, plump offering. The 2008 is a touch more lithe than some previous vintages but it is nevertheless outstanding for its overall balance and sense of harmony. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2013. (Jun 2010)"
Two Glasses, Gambero Rosso: "The [2008] Assisi Rosso ... embodies the spirit of this Guide. Its constant high quality is astonishing ... It is an immediate wine having intriguing scents and combining fruity notes with delicate, spice flavors. The mouth is smooth and full, never banal or too heavy... Good as always, this sangiovese, merlot, and cabernet sauvignon blend has an incomparable price/quality ratio... (2010)"

88 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2007 Chianti Classico Scassino is a pretty, floral red with good definition and fine overall balance. The Scassino is already rather forward, so it is best enjoyed over the next two to three years. Scassino is 97% Sangiovese and 3% Canaiolo. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2013. (Oct 2010)"
87 points Wine Enthusiast: "[$28 list] Scassino is a cheerful and simple Chianti Classico that delivers loads of sweet spice and cinnamon-like aromas. It’s a young, affordable wine that proves easy and pleasurable to drink with pasta, risotto and even pizza. (Jun 2009)"
