The bouquet is deep, pure and just oozes with the inherent elegance of the 2010 vintage, as it delivers scents of black cherries, dark berries, French roast, gamebirds and a very complex base of soil. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very suave on the attack, with sappy core of fruit, ripe, fine-grained tannins and outstanding length and grip on the tangy and very complex finish. Noticeable though not overt wood influence sets off a very ripe nose composed of liqueur of plum, cassis and wild raspberry aromas. There is excellent richness to the round and relatively powerful medium weight flavors blessed with an abundance of dry extract that buffers the otherwise very firm, long and serious finish. This is also notably austere and extremely compact at present and as such it seems reasonably clear that it will not be a good candidate for early drinking. Drink: 2020+. (Apr 2012)"

91-94 points Fine Wine Review: "The Beaune-Grèves, Vigne de l’Enfant Jésus (what I tasted was probably to be the final selection) is somewhat oaky in the nose, but not overly so, and there are spice aromas, too. The mouth is silky (which comes from the oldest vines, almost 60 years) with medium weight and elegance. The flavors are red fruits with some minerality, and there is good acidity to the wine. 90-92+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "Bouchard’s flagship bottling of l’Énfant Jésus is really excellent, and I can only imagine how this kind of purity of fruit and soil is going to show when not encumbered next year by such spicy oak. The 2010 offers up a superb nose of red and black cherries, currants, coffee, incipient notes of sous bois, a touch of game, soil and spicy new wood. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and shows off outstanding purity on the attack, with a sappy core of fruit, ripe tannins and a long, tangy finish that shows just a bit more oak spice than would be ideal. The raw materials here this year are absolutely stunning, and I have little doubt that this wine has the depth of fruit to eventually absorb its wood, but it will always have that telltale touch of Pain Épice. 2020-2060. At once delicate and strong, finishing spicy and long, with a flavor of crunchy berries. Not an earthy style of Corton. (Jan/Feb 2012)"

Comes across as a deeper and fresher version of the Combe Brulee, with its saline character in harmony with its superb fruit. Finishes with silky tannins. (Jan/Feb 2012)"

Cassis dominates the nose and continues on the palate along with other dark fruits. The wine is dense, pure, intense, and nervy. (Issue #134; 2011)"

Layers of deep, dark fruit nearly jump from the glass in this exotic, full-bodied Clos de Tart. Crushed flowers, violets and spices develop over time as the wine gains its easy upper register. The tannins are very firm, but there appears to be more than enough fruit to provide balance. This is going to be a fascinating wine to follow over the coming years and decades. Today it is shaping up to be a gem. Anticipated maturity: 2025-2045. (Feb 2012)"

Deep, sweet, classic Clos de Tart aromas and flavors of dark raspberry, dried flowers, minerals and fresh violet and rose. Dense, round, superripe and compellingly sweet but not a bit roasted. Utterly mouthfilling, fine-grained wine with a broad, wonderfully sweet finish that saturates the entire palate and builds impressively. The serious, noble tannins arrive late. The pH here is in the 3.55 to 3.6 range, according to winemaker Sylvain Pitiot. The cool harvest of 2010 was perfect for Pitiot's late-picking strategy, as this wine is dense and fully ripe without excessive alcohol or any dehydrated fruit character. (Mar/Apr 2013)"

93-96 points Fine Wine Review: "The 2010 will be made up of about 50% whole cluster fermentation. Alcohol is about 13.5%, which for me is key -- some vintages have been too ripe (exceeding 14%), in my view, but when the alcohol is under control, the greatness of this vineyard shines through. The approximate assemblage shows blackberry and other fruits that are fresh and spicy with precision, power, and elegance -- just what a Clos de Tart should be. (Issue #134; 2011)"

The superbly rich and velvety broad-shouldered flavors possess outstanding size, weight and mid-palate concentration that coats the palate with dry extract and enrobes the firm tannic spine to the point where it is more of a background element than usual. There is excellent energy and precision to the dusty, pure and driving finish. This well-balanced effort should require between 15 and 18 years of cellar time to be at its best. Drink: 2025+. 94 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2010 Clos de Tart is one of my favorite recent vintages of this fine grand cru, but again, stylistically, it might be quite a bit more sophisticated if less emphasis were placed in the cellar on its pricey smorgasbord of toney tonneliers. That said, the wine is excellent, as it offers up a deep and polished nose of black cherries, dark plums, raw cocoa, dark soil tones, woodsmoke and a suave coating of coffee-like new wood. The wood treatment here reminds me strongly of the 2009 Lafite. On the palate the wine is deep, fullish and very velvety on the attack, with a fine core of fruit, ripe tannins and a long, tangy and beautifully focused finish. This is a great terroir and I would be delighted to see more emphasis placed on this aspect of the finished wine, but it seems to me that the folks at Clos de Tart are more interested in trying to mimic Bordeaux and produce a vin de luxe, rather than a great, classic grand cru Burgundy. But, all in all, it is hard not to be swayed by how well the 2010 Clos de Tart has turned out in its luxuriant style. 2020-2060. (Jun 2012)"

There is good power and excellent complexity to the wonderfully well-delineated medium weight flavors that possess fine phenolic ripeness and superb energy on the focused, linear and stunningly long and saline-infused finish. The Champans is sensual, as is typical of the vineyard, flowing, and smooth with red fruit and more volume than the Taillepieds. This is the second consecutive year that Champans has been shown after the Taillepieds; previously the order was reversed. (Issue #137; 2013)"

The bouquet is deep, complex and very sappy, as it jumps from the glass in a beautiful mélange of pomegranate, cherries, blood orange, coffee, peonies, lovely soil tones, fresh herbs and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very elegant (particularly for a young Champans), with very good focus and balance, refined tannins and excellent length and grip on the tangy and nuanced finish.
