94 points Wine Spectator: "[$90 list] Taut and focused, this offers a cascade of cinnamon, clove, cherry, raspberry and guava flavors, coming together harmoniously against refined tannins. The finish glides easily. Lingers and lingers. Drink now through 2019. 600 cases made. (10/15/11)"
18/20 (93) points Decanter: "Raspberry nose, lifted and not too oaky. Full-bodied and spicy, with more force than the Beaux Frères Vineyard bottling, showing freshness as well as depth. Good length and fine potential. Drink: 2014-2025. Alcohol 14.1%. (Feb 2013)"
92 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): "Deep red with a bright rim. Exotically perfumed nose displays an array of dark fruit and floral scents, along with notes of Asian spices, anise and lavender. Shows very good depth and a surprisingly lithe character, with energetic raspberry and cherry flavors and notes of floral pastilles and licorice. A spicy quality adds energy to the long, sweet, silky finish. This is very young still. (Jul/Aug 2011)"
Producer notes: "Medium ruby hued, this wine exhibits notes of red currants and sandy, loamy undertones. Medium bodied, spicebox, Christmas fruitcake and herbs. There is a depth and richness that we normally find in this vineyard planted to Dijon clones. This vintage shows a different side of this vineyard one of elegance and light -- the fruit profile is more one of red fruit than the normal dark fruit that we expect. Still complex and slow to reveal itself as this cuvée always is we are still enjoying watching this wine unwind and open up. Right now it is simply giving us hints of what is to come. This should be a wine to enjoy over the next 8+ years."

Broad, open-knit raspberry and cherry flavors show very good depth and energy, with tangy acidity adding spine. Richer and darker in profile on the long spice- and floral-accented finish. This wine benefits quite a bit from aeration. (Jul 2012)"

Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): "Vivid red. Fresh red berries, cola and herbs on the nose. Bright and energetic on the palate, offering sweet raspberry and cherry flavors and a touch of anise. Finishes smooth and gently sweet, with lingering red fruit notes. This is drinking well now. (Jul/Aug 2011)"
Producer notes: "The aromas are focused and appealingly creamy notes of raspberry and cherry fruit. The same fruitiness is apparent on the tongue, with a bright, and fresh edge to the cherry and black raspberry flavor concentration. There is also a nice sweetness to the fruit, and hints of dried herbs, a touch of minerality, and notes of dried wood that add depth and complexity."

90 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): "Bright red. High-pitched red berry and floral aromas are complicated by Asian spices and orange peel. Silky in texture and gently sweet, with vibrant strawberry and black raspberry flavors and a touch of bitter cherry. The supple, intensely fruity finish is spicy, focused and nicely persistent. This drinks well now but has the spine to age. (Sep 2011)"
90 points Wine Spectator: "Light and silky, dancing delicately over refined tannins and lively acidity to show red berry, cinnamon and clove flavors as the finish lingers. Drink now through 2017. (2/29/12)"
90 points and 'Year's Best Pinot Noir,' Wine & Spirits: "Warm and fresh with a scent of ripe strawberries, this wine’s flavors are loose-limbed and juicy, but a fruit skin tannin element holds all that ripeness in check. It’s an ideal red for chilling and drinking as an aperitif. (Oct 2012)"
Producer notes: "A lovely, precocious wine with a brilliant, deep garnet color and seductive, lush aromatics, in this wine spice and fruits dominate. Rich pie cherry and dried cherry impressions, with plummy blue and black fruit for depth and richness anchor the palate and lead to a sweet fruit entry. Tea leaves and spices are assertive, whether showing gingerbread, molasses, nutmeg, cardamon or delicate black pepper. The balance is almost perfect, with great acid, excellent weight without being ponderous, no alcohol apparent, nice breadth and length on the palate, and a bright, clean and elegant finish. Elegance, richness and balance--what we all aspire to. And what a standard-bearing pinot noir should reflect. 14.5% alcohol."

90 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): "Bright ruby-red. Spice-accented red berries on the nose, with subtle smoke and floral notes adding complexity. Juicy and precise, with good depth to its strawberry and raspberry flavors. Finishes dry, stony and precise, with very good clarity and clinging florality. (Jul/Aug 2011)"
90 points Wine Spectator: "Bright and jazzy, with a lovely apricot edge to the red berry and spice flavors, dancing a lively jig as the finish persists. Has deftness and charm, too. Drink now through 2018... (2/29/12)"
'Recommended,' Decanter: "Founded in 1992 in the Willamette Valley by Paul Gerrie, ex-Calera winemaker Steve Doerner has been there from the start. Deep colour, fine Pinot nose and all the depth, purity and textured fruit that one could hope for. A lovely wine. Drink: 2013-2014. Alcohol 14.2%. (Feb 2013)"
Producer notes: "14.0% alc., Winemaker Steve Doerner is a master blender and this blend is always a dependable wine. Native yeasts, minimal handling, unfiltered. Always the first Cristom released each vintage, it is an early drinking wine of great value. Moderate reddish-purple color in the glass. Plenty of whole cluster spice on the nose highlighting the strawberry and cherry fruit aromas. Discreetly concentrated flavors of darker red berries accented by hints of anise, earth, chocolate and oak. Juicy and crisp with some firm, dry tannins. Very approachable now, but will benefit from another year in bottle to soften the tannins and boost the charm. Very good. (11/1/11)"

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "[$45 list] Sometimes in a challenging vintage such as 2009, it is the least expensive, blended wines that benefit most, perhaps because grapes normally destined for the single-vineyard wines are redirected. Here, rich fruit flavors highlighted with streaks of caramel and toffee get things rolling quickly. Berries and cherries, firm acids, pretty spice and a lingering butterscotch finish. (Jun 2012)"
'Recommended,' Santé Magazine: "Floral aromas of cherry blossom and strawberry, with a touch of spring earth. Jammy crushed cherry, plum, and white pepper on the palate, with accents of saddle leather. Long, intense finish, with earth and rose pedal notes. Grilled sea bass with herbed butter. Can serve now, but will hold for some time."

94 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): "Bright ruby-red. Sexy, highly perfumed bouquet evokes candied red fruits, cherry compote, potpourri and star anise. Fresh and lively but deeply pitched, offering intense raspberry and bitter cherry flavors and suggestions of cola and candied flowers. Shows outstanding clarity and power on the finish, which features slow-building tannins and bright minerality. (Jul 2012)"
92 points Wine Spectator: "Bright and sleek, offering pretty blackberry and red plum flavors that stay intense as the finish lingers effortlessly, with chocolate complexity, against refined tannins. Drink now through 2019. 2,750 cases made. (12/31/12)"
92 points Wine Enthusiast: "This is woodsy and dark, with a black licorice note. The flavors are subtle at first, the cherry and wood notes mingling in a fine weave, the tannins persistent and a bit prickly until they settle out with air, becoming silky. It’s a satisfying red to decant for duck confit. (Oct 2012)"
92 points and 'Year's Best Pinot Noir,' Wine & Spirits: "This is woodsy and dark, with a black licorice note. The flavors are subtle at first, the cherry and wood notes mingling in a fine weave, the tannins persistent and a bit prickly until they settle out with air, becoming silky. It’s a satisfying red to decant for duck confit. (Oct 2012)"
91 points David Schildknecht (Wine Advocate): "The Domaine Drouhin 2009 Pinot Noir Laurene delivers rich dark cherry and plum fruit, its persistent but in no way superficial sweetness wreathed in bitter-sweet floral perfume and allied to a vaguely stony undertone. Almost velvety in texture, this nonetheless finishes with a grip that implies abundant if fine tannins. It doesn’t -- indeed, given its vintage, almost surely couldn’t -- approach the infectious sheer primary juiciness of the corresponding 2010; nor does it strike me for now as being any more complex than the highly impressive (and much less expensive) 'classique' (i.e. Drouhin’s principal bottling). But it’s surely worth following for at least half a dozen years, during which time it might well reveal its superiority. 'You had to be really cautious with extraction in this vintage,' notes Bell of 2009, 'because there was a lot of dry skin material in the cap.' (Aug 2012)"
Producer notes: "Dark and vibrant in color, the 2009 Laurène is a classic expression of our Dundee Hills Pinot Noir. The aromatics are vibrant, and consist of sweet red fruit, cherry, cola nut, and a hint of toast. The mouth weight is a balance between the plush palate feel, soft, well-integrated tannins and a nice mineral lift. The fresh red fruit flavors of cherry and cranberry mix easily with a touch of vanilla and smoke. The finish is long and silky, as one expects from Laurène. All in all, the 2009 Laurène is a wine of pleasure and elegance, a nice representation of the Drouhin style in a warmer vintage. Easy to love and approachable now, you can certainly cellar this beautiful wine for another 8 to 12 years."

92 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): "Bright ruby-red. High-pitched aromas of red berries, mace, potpourri and white pepper, with slow-mounting minerality. Juicy, sharply focused raspberry and cherry flavors show very good depth and vivacity, picking up a sexy floral nuance with air. This silky, precise pinot finishes with strong punch, excellent persistence and no excess fat. Develops very nicely in the glass and has the depth and structure to age, but it's also delicious now. (Jul/Aug 2011)"
92 points Wine Spectator: "[$45 list] Crisp, with a layer of gritty tannins around berry and plum flavors, with a nice mineral character to the finish. Best from 2013 through 2019. 1,528 cases made. (12/15/11)"
91 points Jay Miller (Wine Advocate): "[$45 list] The 2009 Pinot Noir Estate Seven Springs Vineyard received a similar elevage with the wine bottled without fining or filtration. Expressive aromas of sandalwood, exotic spices, violets, black cherry, and black raspberry inform the nose of a satin-textured, round, succulent, nicely proportioned wine that has exceptional concentration and depth for the vintage. It has enough structure to evolve for 1-2 years and should drink nicely through 2019. (Oct 2011)"
91 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(13.75%). An elegant, pure and beautifully layered nose of very fresh red pinot fruit is trimmed in a touch of wood. There is good vibrancy and detail here as well on the equally pure medium-bodied flavors that terminate in a mildly austere, complex and well-balanced finish. This is really very good and offers fine development potential as well. Drink: 2016+. (Oct 2012)"
'Very Good,' PinotFile: "13.75% alc., pH 3.56, TA 0.54, 1,528 cases. Own-rooted Pommard with some 114, 115 and 777. Planted in 1984, 1988, and 1993 to 1996. Volcanic basalt soils of the Jory series. 100% de-stemmed, indigenous fermentation, aged 12 months in 25% new French oak barrels. Bottled unfined and unfiltered. Winemaker is Isabelle Meunier and consulting winemaker is Dominique Lafon. Moderate reddish-purple hue in the glass. Muted aromatically and slightly reduced initially, offering over time aromas of black cherries, smoky oak and humus. Medium-weighted mix of dark red and black berry and black cherry fruits backed by moderate grainy tannins, finishing with a spiced fruit, oak-marked finish. I rechecked the wine from a previously opened and re-corked the next day and two days later, and the wine become much more expressive over time, with brighter fruit aromas and flavors while still retaining a noticeable oak underpinning. Great potential here, but the wine needs more time in bottle. (11/1/11)"

90 points Wine Enthusiast: "[$40 list] Smooth and rich, the first release of the new vintage from Le Cadeau is a gem. Tangy berry/cherry fruit is framed in chocolate, while balancing acidity props up softer, caramel streaks. The finish brings a wash of citrus, leaving the mouth feeling clean and ready to sip again. Alcohol 14.5%. (Aug 2011)"
Producer notes: "The 2009 'Red Label' Le Cadeau Pinot Noir is a rich and luscious wine filled with sweet red fruit flavors that are followed by a cinnamon mid-palate and a long, earthy, caramel finish. Made exclusively from estate fruit, the Red Label is a complex Pinot Noir offered at a slightly lower price point. Despite its youthfulness, Red Label is drinking beautifully now but will fully integrate and develop secondary flavors over the next several years. 244 cases produced."

92 points Wine & Spirits: "Scents of cola and spice yield to deep black cherry accents. There is such purity of fruit at first that the wine feels simple, but with air the black cherry is grounded by forest floor notes and kissed by oak, which gives the flavors length and ballast. It’s a packed wine, and needs cellaring; wait a year or two and serve with pork loin. (Dec 2011)"
90 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): "Bright ruby. Sexy, highly perfumed aromas of black raspberry, rose and spicecake, with a smoky nuance that builds with air. Juicy red and dark berry flavors are nicely concentrated and supported by a spine of gentle acidity. The smoky note repeats on the sweet, dark berry-dominated finish. This will be drinkable soon and already shows well with decanting. (Jul/Aug 2011)"
90 points Wine Enthusiast: "A delightful nose that doesn’t push too hard brings strawberries, spiced cherries and a whiff of licorice to the front. The flavors follow, touched ever so lightly with a hint of leather. It turns a little sharp and herbal in the finish, but that may simply be a sign of its youth. Alcohol 13.8%. (Dec 2011)"
'Good (+),' PinotFile: "13.8% alc., pH 3.69, screw cap. Released April 2011. Sourced from 10 vineyards with the largest portion from Ponzi’s Aurora Vineyard (38%). 100% de-stemmed, 5-day cold soak, lightly pressed at dryness. Aged 11 months in 30% new French oak barrels and bottled without fining or filtration. Moderately light reddish-purple color in the glass. Reasonably intense aromas of fresh dark plums and berries with a hint of oak and violets. Light in weight, but quite flavorful, with an array of blue and black berry flavors, enhanced by supple tannins and well-honed acidity. A solid, dependable wine year in and year out. (5/14/12)"
Producer notes: "Spiced cherry, cinnamon, clove and graham cracker aromatics lead to a soft entry of licorice and peppercorn notes. The mid palate sweetness finishes with dusty firm tannins."

91 points Jay Miller (Wine Advocate): "Luisa Ponzi decided not to make any vineyard designates in the 2009 vintage so the 2009 Pinot Noir Reserve was the beneficiary of that fruit. Dark ruby red in color, it exhibits an alluring perfume of cedar, Asian spices, incense, lilacs, black cherry, and black raspberry. Meatier and richer than the Willamette Valley bottling, it has enough structure to evolve for 1-2 years and will deliver optimum drinking from 2012 to 2019. (Oct 2011)"
91 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): "Ruby-red. Raspberry, white pepper and potpourri on the perfumed nose. Lively, focused and sweet, with zesty flavors of red and dark berries and candied rose. This very fresh, energetic pinot shows noteworthy vivacity and finishes clean and persistent. (Jul/Aug 2012)"
91 points Wine Enthusiast: "Detailed and elegant, this requires a little extra time and attention to show its strengths. It's a subtle mix of spice, cocoa and blackberry notes, with a touch of tobacco; the scents and flavors mingle seamlessly. A hint of cola surfaces on the finish, lingering gracefully for more than a minute. Alcohol 14%. (Aug 2012)"
Producer notes: "This Pinot Noir is a blend of LIVE Certified Sustainable fruit from Ponzi’s Aurora, Madrona and Abetina Vineyards, as well as fruit from Linda Vista, Lazy River, Gemini and Lemelson Vineyards. This wine meets requirements for the Oregon Certified Sustainable Wine program for responsible agriculture and winemaking practices certified by an independent third party."

88 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "($19 list; 13.3%; bottled under screwcap). An extremely subtle touch of reduction knocks down the expressiveness of the otherwise pretty and diverse red berry fruit that includes notes of raspberry and cherry. There is reasonably good volume to the round, supple and quite forward flavors that are fashioned in an easy-to-like style, all wrapped in a dusty, clean and agreeably dry finish of moderate depth and length. Drink: 2013+. (Oct 2011)"
87 points Wine Enthusiast: "[$19 list] Another new entry into the under-$20 Oregon Pinot ranks, this one from Wilson Daniels. Oregon law requires that wines with varietal labeling be 95% the named varietal; here there is 3% Syrah in the cuvée. Tart red berries, leaf and herb mingle in a graceful, though light bottle. A nice balance of fruit, herb, acid and tannin, with a pleasing spicy finish. (Mar 2011)"
Producer notes: "Our Pinot Noir is a fresh, pleasing wine that captures the character of the Willamette Valley in Oregon. The color is a light, translucent ruby hue characteristic of Pinot Noir. The bouquet reveals notes of raspberry, baked cherries, violets and orange zest with a hint of herbs. On the palate, look for notes of raspberry, cranberry and spice enveloped in a light, food-friendly acidity. This wine will continue to improve in bottle for the next two to three years. Made for RouteStock Cellars by our friends at Ponzi Vineyards. Pinot Noir 97%, Syrah 3%. Alcohol 13.55%."

This could stand up to full-flavored food. (Jul/Aug 2011)"
88 points Jay Miller (Wine Advocate): "[$25 list] The current collection begins with the 2009 Pinot Noir Willamette Valley. It is a forward wine displaying spicy dark fruit aromas and ample black cherry and black raspberry flavors. Drink this excellent value over the next 6 years. (Oct 2011)"
PinotFile: "13.5%. Moderate plum color in the glass. Aromas of black plums, prune juice and oak. Dark fruits are featured that have a ripe, cooked quality. Soft with supple tannins and a silky finish. (4/10/11)"
Producer notes: "Great natural acidity, balanced by powerful, complex and ageworthy fruit, is the hallmark of the vintage. The vineyard sources for the 2009 include 56% from our own Oracle Vineyard, 14% Abbey Ridge, 22% Coehlo Vineyard, and 8% La Cantera Vineyard. The wine has a broad flavor spectrum of Bing cherry, blueberry and sweet spice. Fruit aromas are complemented by notes of sweet clove spice and a hint of toasty vanilla oak. On the palate the wine is open and opulent, with loads of pure Pinot fruit, leading into a rich mid-palate and a balanced finish with a hint of well-integrated tannin. The wine was bottled without fining or filtration. Aging and a complete indigenous malo-lactic fermentation took place in 100% French oak, with 23% new and 30% one-year old barrels. 1666 cases & 14 cases of magnums produced."

91 points Jay Miller (Wine Advocate): "[$45 list] The 2009 Pinot Noir Appellation Series Dundee Hills is a blend of the Durant and White Rose vineyards made with 40% whole clusters and aged for 15 months in 16% new French oak. Inviting aromas of cinnamon, clove, incense, cedar, cherry, and cranberry compose the bouquet of this already complex, finesse-styled, suave offering. Impeccably balanced and lengthy, it will benefit from 1-2 years of cellaring and provide enjoyment through 2021. (Oct 2011)"
Producer notes: "The 2009 'Dundee Hills AVA' is sourced from two storied vineyards, White Rose and Durant, both of which are planted on east-southeast facing slopes of Jory volcanic-based soils in the southern part of the Dundee Hills appellation between an elevation of 600 and 870 feet. The wine shows classic Dundee Hills’ aromas of rose petals, red fruit, minerality and brown spices such as cinnamon and clove. The wine is very elegant and bright on the palate with moderate weight, silky, tight structure and very good length. This wine will continue to build weight and complexity, evolving in bottle over the next 3-5 years. Drink 2011-2018. Alcohol 13.9%. 834 cases produced."

91 points and 'Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(14.4%). Here the elegant nose features intense floral and spice notes that add breadth to the cool and pure aromas of red pinot fruit. There is the same sophisticated mouth feel here as I found in the Aliette though the flavors possess a bit more size and weight plus a bit more mid-palate concentration as well. The mouth coating finish possesses a dusty character though not quite the verve of the Aliette but still, this is worth considering, especially if your taste runs to more powerful pinots. Drink: 2016+. (Sep 2012)"
91 points David Schildknecht (Wine Advocate): "Representing a blend of material judged top-quality from all across their Yamhill estate -- and tending to favor some of the early Dijon clones -- WillaKenzie’s 2009 Pinot Noir Pierre Leon is dominated by dark cherry and purple plum piquantly tinged with their pits; undertones of tallow, roasted red meat, and underbrush lending intriguing depth; and finishes with resonance, richer and sweeter, if with a bit less energy, penetration or saliva inducement, than its counterpart from their Dundee Hills vineyard. This handsome Pinot should perform well for 6-8 years. (Aug 2012)"
90 points Wine Spectator: "Fresh and vivid, with tightly focused plum and guava flavors that play against lively acidity and polished tannins. Finishes with zip. Drink now through 2017. 2,800 cases made. (10/15/12)"
Producer notes: "Deep cranberry red in color, with sweet black fruit and carnation on the nose. The palate showcases red plum, red currant and red cherry, as well as unmistakable earth, nutmeg, star anise, and kirsch notes. It is a seductively plump style of Pinot Noir, with structure that builds in the mouth, yet eases gently into a smooth woodspice finish. This wine delightfully surprises with ripe fruit, which is typical of the vintage, and well-balanced acidity. Its elegant profile and balance lead us to believe this wine will age well for 7 to 10 years."

90 points David Schildknecht (Wine Advocate): "[$65 list] As its name indicates, from lower (and more clay-rich) sections of WillaKenzie’s Yamhill property, planted with two Dijon clones, their 2009 Pinot Noir Terres Basses displays peat-like smokiness and black pepper pungency allied to dark berry confiture, and with an overlay of toast, macaroon and vanilla that I could personally do without (though the barrels are only half new, as with several sibling cuvees). This finishes with broad (borderline bulky), caressing, sweetly fruited satisfaction, persistently smoky and peppery, if without much primary juiciness or salivary enticement. (Aug 2012)"
90 points Wine Spectator: "Polished, refreshing and juicy, offering red berry and black cherry flavors, with a delicate touch of pepper that dots the i's as the finish lingers easily. The tannins have a light grip. Best from 2013 through 2017. 500 cases made. (10/15/12)"
