This is quite ripe, indeed to the extent of having mocha and cassis aromas that manage to retain a reasonable sense of freshness. The suave, round and delicious middle weight flavors are quite textured as here too there is ample dry extract that renders the firm tannins almost invisible on the mouth coating yet slightly bitter finish where a hint of wood toast surfaces. In contrast to the villages Chambolle however, there appears to be enough extract present to allow the tannins to round out and thus my score offers the benefit of the doubt. Drink: 2016+. Surely there are several examples of Côte de Nuits Villages from Brochon that are more serious wines than even the best examples from Maranges, so why has the AOC not deigned to grant this village its own appellation? In any case, the 2009 Côte de Nuits Villages from Monsieur Bachelet is really superb, with the inherent elegance of the vintage very much in evidence here on both the nose and palate. The bouquet is a lovely mélange of cassis, grilled meats, espresso, Gevrey-like black minerality and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and very long, with suave tannins, lovely focus and excellent length and grip on the finish. Classy juice. 2014-2035. (Nov/Dec 2010)"

90 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2009 Chambolle villages from Madame Barthod is a dynamite example of the vintage and a wine that I will certainly be trying to add to my own cellar. The nose is deep, pure and classic, as it jumps from the glass in a lovely mix of red and black cherries, fresh herb tones, raw cocoa, lovely soil tones and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and sappy at the core, with a great signature of soil, fine-grained tannins, tangy acids and excellent length and grip on the classy finish. I would tuck this lovely AC away for four or five years to let its secondary layers of complexity emerge, but it is going to be hard not to drink early on, as it is so beautifully balanced that its moderate tannins are not going to put up much resistance. The bouquet is deep, pure and really vibrant, as it soars from the glass in a sappy mélange of plums, black cherries, raw cocoa, woodsmoke, intense violets and a stunningly complex base of soil. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, pure and very soil-driven, with the great core of fruit wrapped in beautiful terroir. The finish is very, very long, with ripe tannins, excellent focus and grip and beautiful, nascent complexity on the backend. A beautiful bottle of wine that will richly deserve six or seven years of bottle age before broaching, just to let it really cut loose on the nose and palate. 2016-2040. (Nov/Dec 2010)"

The wine is powerful with mineral dark fruits and a hint of licorice. There is no heaviness here, and it seems to be a particularly successful vintage for this cuvée at Barthod. (Issue #130; 2011)"

This is notably riper with aromas of warm earth, spice and red and blue fruit liqueur that merge into rich, generous and quite plump medium-bodied flavors that possess good mid-palate fat and a long and delicious finish. Bouvier’s Bourgogne, En Montre Cul is from a well-known vineyard in Couchey, at the northern end of the Côte des Nuits. It is floral in the nose and shows light, floral red fruit flavors in the mouth. It is a prime example of how delightful a simple Bourgogne can be. I’d drink over the next 6-8 years."

On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very, very pure, with a great core of fruit, bright acids, ripe tannins and magical length and grip on the youthful and intensely flavored finish. Moderate wood influence does not unduly hamper the attractiveness of the otherwise fresh and bright earthy and high-toned red pinot fruit suffused nose. The rich and solidly structured medium-bodied flavors possess copious amounts of mid-palate sap, which is a good thing because the impressively persistent finish is firm to the point of being chewy. This is potentially the best example of the Chevillon Roncières that I have ever seen from cask though note that patience will be required. Drink: 2019+. (Jan 2011)"

On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and beautifully transparent, with a sappy core of fruit, suave tannins, lovely focus, tangy acids and outstanding length and grip on the perfectly balanced and classy finish. As it usually the case, here the nose is even more elegant and prettier with a highly perfumed, layered and relatively high-toned aromatic profile that is quite floral along with offering up notes of oriental tea and exotic spice on the mostly red and blue pinot fruit scents. The detailed and ultra-refined flavors are crystalline in their purity and while they don't have the robust power of the Grands Echézeaux, there is notably more finesse and even a bit more overall length on the mildly austere finish. It's hard to capture mouth feel in words but think of lacy and silky textured flavors that possess a truly fine grain and you'll have a good idea about the palate impression of the '09 RSV.
