98 points Wine Enthusiast: "A beautiful, mouthwatering newcomer to the whiskey scene. Named for the 'angel's share,' the portion that evaporates from the barrel during the aging process, this golden amber spirit is finished in Port barrels, which explains those juicy red-fruit notes that slide into the long finish. Look for orange peel, vanilla and roasted nut flavors, too. abv: 43.3%. (Jul 2012)"
Named after the 'angel’s share' (the portion of the spirit that evaporates during aging), Angel’s Envy was created by Lincoln Henderson, developer of Gentleman Jack and Woodford Reserve. His new project is aged 4-6 years, made up of 72% corn, 18% rye and 10% malt and is aged in air-dried Bluegrass Cooperage barrels and finished in ruby port barrels. It’s a very subtle bourbon, with a nose of vanilla and toasted nuts. A hint of maple in the flavor and a smooth finish that lasts.

Wine Spectator: "This opens with a big, sweet nose of corn, maple and vanilla, and a looming alcohol heat. There's spicy cinnamon-clove candy, sweet corn, a hint of leather and smoothing baker's chocolate, then an oily spread that flashes to a sweet-hot finish. The most 'old-timey' of the Beam Small Batch Bourbons. 107 proof. (1/31/12)"
Small Batch. The recipe of Jim Beam's grand-nephew, Baker Beam, is made with a special jug yeast that's been in the family for over 60 years. It provides a silky smooth texture and gives Baker's a full, balanced flavor. Very aromatic with a sweet, smooth, medium long finish.

95 points Wine Enthusiast: "[$50 list] Pour it, and let it sit awhile; this one opens up and gets more aromatic, rich and flavorful, like wine. It starts off with a candied sweetness and touches of coconut and tea on the nose, then opens up to deeper caramel tones. Orange and caramel flavors, mellow, smooth, linger on the finish. Light-bodied, despite the bold, luxurious flavors. And oh, that pretty bottle, like an oversized perfume flask. Add this one to your gift list. (Sep 2010)"
Wine Spectator: "[$50 list] (style: classic - sweet corn and vanilla) Custard, pepper, orange peel and grassy rye fill the nose. In the mouth, it's a breakneck ride: an initial rush of dry corn and grassy rye, a broad wave of sweeter corn in the middle, and a finish of sugar and rough spearmint. One of the first specialty Bourbons, and still one of the best. 93 proof. (1/31/12)"
Colonel Albert B. Blanton first bottled his private reserve Bourbon nearly a century ago. And that's the way Blanton is bottled today. A Bourbon's peak maturity varies from barrel to barrel. And only a master distiller can determine the exact moment the whiskey has extracted enough flavor from the wood. Thus he vigilantly monitors each barrel until it's aged to perfection and is deemed worthy of the Blanton label.

Wine Spectator: "(style: spirited - barrel-strength, over 100 proof) Here's your introduction to the Beam nose: cinnamon, hot and dusty corn, short snort of vanilla. A sip gives you powerful but smooth corn and more cinnamon, finely polished oak, a hot twist of mint. Alcohol heat permeates this barrel-proof monster; water it carefully to bring out more of the mint and thin the corn. Bourbon right from the barrel, as Booker Noe liked it. Proof of batches varies between 120 and 130. (1/31/12)"
121 - 127 Proof, aged 6 - 8 years. Master Distiller Emeritus Booker Noe, Jim Beam's grandson, originally created this for his personal bourbon stock. It is uncut, unfiltered, straight-from-the-barrel. Full-bodied, full of power and heat, yet with a remarkably velvety, elegant finish. Gold Medal, Wine Enthusiast.

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "[$30 list] Pleasnatly sweet nose. Medium body and sticky-toffee flavor. This would be great mixed into cocktails, because the flavor is smooth but bold at the same time; it would blend without being completely lost. Finishes mellow, smooth, with just enough alcohol bite. Easy to like. Think Manhattans or Old-Fashioneds. (Sep 2010)"
Jim Murray (Whiskey Magazine): "One of the world's great whiskies." Producer notes: "Light bronze in color with streaks of gold, Buffalo Trace Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey bears a complex aroma of vanilla, mint, and molasses. Its taste is pleasantly sweet and contains notes of brown sugar and spice that give way to oak and leather. The long and dry finish has significant depth. When enjoyed with water, flavors of toffee, dark fruit and anise are revealed."
Wine Spectator: "(style: classic - sweet corn and vanilla) You'll get sweet cinnamon and rich corn pudding in the nose, with hints of meadow grass and bergamot. This one's warm and rich, nicely balanced by drying oak that tamps down the cinnamon from the nose. Well-balanced and sippable. 90 proof. (1/31/12)"
Eric Felten (Wall Street Journal): "Nicely balanced, with a deep and slightly bitter wood, keeping rich fruit in check." (4/26/08)

Considered the founding father of the modern bourbon industry, Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor, Jr. left an indelible legacy on whiskey making. His dedication to distilling began at the close of the Civil War when he purchased O.F C. Distillery. There, he developed innovative techniques that are still in use today. Made by hand, this Small Batch Bourbon Whiskey has been aged inside century old warehouses constructed by E.H. Taylor, Jr. Barrels are evaluated and selected to create a perfect blend of distinctive character that is like no other. It follows the regulations of the Bottled in Bond Act of 1897, which Taylor was instrumental in passing. The Bottled in Bond label requires that a bourbon be crafted from barrels all distilled by a single distillery, in a single season, stored in a bonded warehouse for four years before bottling, and bottled at 100 proof. This bourbon is a true sipping bourbon that honors the uncompromising legacy of E.H. Taylor, Jr.
The aroma delivers hints of mint and sweet spices balanced with smoky oak. A smooth flavor of caramel corn sweetness is mingled with tones of butterscotch and licorice. The aftertaste is a soft mouth feel that turns into subtle spices of pepper and tobacco.

While most rye whiskeys are made with corn as an ingredient, this is a unique rye whiskey made only with rye and malted barley. This spicy and full-bodied 100 proof Straight Rye Whiskey pays tribute to the classic American whiskey style and the Bottled in Bond Act of 1897. Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor, Jr. was instrumental in passing this act that safeguarded consumers from bogus bourbons being sold in the industry. With its passage, drinkers could trust that a bottle labeled 'Bottled in Bond' was genuine crafted whiskey. The label required that a bottle contained only barrels distilled by a single distillery, in a single season, stored in a bonded warehouse for four years before bottling, and bottled at 100 proof. This bourbon follows these regulations and is worthy of the quality of its namesake.
On the nose, this whiskey is full of dried fruit, black pepper and a touch of fresh dill. A small sip brings an array of flavors both sweet and savory with a terrific balance of dark spices and subtle caramel overtones. The finish is especially pleasing with an oaky dryness that lingers just long enough.

From Pennsylvania, the original home of rye whiskey, comes this microdistilled gem aged in small Missouri oak which is heavily charred. With a mashbill of 80% unmalted rye, 15% barley, and 5% malted rye, the lovely sweet rye flavor shines. All the grains used are from Pennsylvania. "CVI Brands"

The Hooch Life "Dry Fly lingers on the tongue and leaves you thirsty for more. It is delicate and flavorful with touches of peaches, honey, butterscotch, and cinnamon. Their Washington Wheat Whiskey is a youthful drinkable whiskey that exemplifies craft distilling at it’s finest."
"Dry Fly Distilling is the first legal distillery in Washington since Prohibition. A passion for true craft distilling and commitment to sourcing locals grains and botanicals from sustainable farms means you can feel even better when imbibing their amazing spirits. Their Washington Wheat Whiskey is a real gem, as wheat whiskeys are fairly rare, and good ones rarer still."

**** Highly Recommended, F. Paul Pacult (Spirit Journal): "Bright honey/topaz color. The early aromas include gentle grain, toasted honey-wheat bread and tobacco leaf. An oil, toasty beauty seduces the taste buds at palate entry with dry flavors of cereal grain and mild oak resin - the mid-palate include sweet and oily flavors of raisins, grapefruit, charred oak and candied almonds. The finish is long, corny sweet and moderately fiery. Easily one of the most tactile yet assertive and expressive bourbons I've tasted in the last two years."

***** Highest Recommendation, F. Paul Pacult (Spirit Journal): "New copper penny bright; impeccable purity. What strikes me about the opening aroma is the balance between the alcohol, the oak, and the grain, which all seem to be pulling the wagon in harmony; it isn't until aeration unleashes the spirit that I detect the feistiness of the 100-proof alcohol, but fortunately that doesn't overshadow the leathery, mildly sweet breakfast cereal , honeyed graininess. Aftertaste is of chocolate covered walnuts and that ever-present honey. A masterpiece of seamless integration, bourbon profundity, and grace."
'Top 50 Spirits of 2008' and Classic (96-100)/Highest Recommendation, Wine Enthusiast: "The beautifully balanced bouquet features leathery, mildly sweet breakfast cereal and honeyed grainy scents. The entry is equally splendid with smoldering flavors of light caramel, nougat and oaky vanillin; the mid-palate features tastes of toasted cereal, toasted rye bread, popcorn and fresh honey. Aftertaste is of chocolate covered walnuts and that ever-present honey. Best Buy."
Wine Spectator: "(style: smooth - usually wheat-based) This is floral and somewhat herbal in the nose. Maintains that in the mouth, adding a dry licorice edge and finish that would be just the thing after a meal. This single barrel bottling is a chance to taste one of Four Roses' 10 'blending' Bourbons on its own. 100 proof. (1/31/12)"

***** Highest Recommendation, F. Paul Pacult (Spirit Journal): "Deep golden/honey bronze hue; excellent clarity. A no-nonsense bouquet of authentic depth and quality. The taste profile intensity builds substantially from entry to midpalate, Finish-wise, a seductive maple-like flavor closes the circle on the taste stages in a way that's both stirring and classy. A clinic on what small batch straight bourbon can be."
93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Aromas are sweet and fruitcake-like, with faint cigar smoke. Restrained, subtle flavors of orange peel, cinnamon and leather ride a medium-to-heavy body. The finish is extremely smooth, with a touch of anise. (Sep 2010)"

***Recommended, F. Paul Pacult (Spirit Journal): "Pretty amber/topaz/burnished gold color; very good clarity. Enticing smells of buttermilk biscuits, salted butter, and fudge; the additional seven minutes of air contact bring out roasted scents of almond paste, nougat, corn bread, oatmeal, and caramel corn. Entry is semisweet, spirity warm, corn-like, and dry breakfast cereal-like; the midpalate however, is the star of this evaluation as the flavor profile turns buttery, rounded, maple-like, and nutty. Ends up clean, biscuity and keenly spirity, but never hot or fiery. The reined-in spirit is properly managed, creating a firm foundation on which the grain and wood influences shine, in particular, at entry and midpalate."

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "At first, this whiskey is easy to underestimate, since the amber color and mild toffee aroma give little away. But one sip, and it is clear this whiskey means business: Deep vanilla cookie and cigar tobacco flavors unfold to a big, burnt-caramel finish, which washes over the palate like a rolling wave. Manhattan-worthy. (Mar 2011)"
The master distiller selects whiskey from those barrels whose contents he feels have aged to create particularly flavorful and aromatic whiskey. Hand-bottled one barrel at a time, and never mixed with whiskey from other barrels.

'Best 50 Spirits of 2008' and Superb (90-95)/Highly Recommended, Wine Enthusiast: "Aromas of vibrant spirit, light toffee, marshmallow, fruitcake, poppy seed, brown sugar and honey. The vibrant entry gives off oaky sweet tastes of vanilla, baked bread and buttered popcorn; at midpalate rich flavors of molasses, burnt sugar, oak resin, maple and honey vie for dominance. Finishes properly spirited, semisweet and assertive."
Wine Spectator: "(style: mature - long-aged) Whiskey yields a smooth, not hot, aroma, with lots of vanilla and custard. The nose doesn't lie; it's all there, and gentle and easy to hold on the tongue, though there is some heat at the finish that curls around the custard. The oak dryness is surprisingly restrained for an older (this is at least 15 years old) Bourbon. 90.2 proof. (1/31/12)"
